Forestry Mulching evolved as a method of removing brush, trees, and unwanted overgrowth while improving erosion control and conserving precious topsoil. Specialized equipment is used to shred, chip, or "mulch" the vegetation and this mulch-like material is spread evenly across the cleared site. Root systems remain in the soil encouraging advantageous microbe growth and mitigating erosion, and the mulch material serves as a fertilizer and soil stabilizer.
