Forestry Mulching Greenville, SC

The Forest Generals and equipment that we have fall under the larger brush-cutting umbrella. What separates Archer Mulchers from things like your standard rotary cut mowers is the ability to handle larger material and to leave a finer product.

So, a lot of what we do with the forestry mulchers is creating sight lines and aesthetic clearing on like lake lots or areas that are trying to establish views or clear and leave a natural space without getting into the hassle of excavating stumps and root systems. This is especially important in environmentally sensitive areas or places where you want more space without having to establish new forage after stripping the soil and digging everything up.

Who We Can Help

We work with residential, industrial, commercial, and municipal clients.

On the residential side, we handle projects like ATV trails, shooting lanes, or creating larger perimeters around outbuildings or home sites.

Our commercial and industrial projects often involve maintaining space along perimeter fences or clearing aesthetic areas such as employee break areas.

For municipalities, we frequently clear right-of-ways for sewer and water easements. We’ve also completed projects such as clearing tree lines, backing off detention ponds, and other complex services.

Some examples of our municipal work include projects for the City of Clemson and Clemson University. We’ve also done work for Anderson County at the airport, as well as trail clearing for the City of Greenville’s trail project. Additionally, we’ve worked at a state special needs facility in Clinton.

The Difference Between Forestry Mulching and Land Clearing

Forestry mulching does not include any subsoil element. Standing vegetation is processed into chips or mulch (we refer to it generally as biomass).

The forestry mulcher does not grind below the surface of the ground, so the area is clear of vegetation, but root systems remain in place. This can be really effective if, for example, you're establishing ATV trails that you don't want to have to come back and grade for drainage or surface with aggregate. Or, maybe you’re in a situation where there are HOAs or municipal guidelines as to what vegetation you can clear via conventional land clearing. Forestry mulching does not fall under those same restrictions.

Conventional land clearing is the preferred method for site development because, most of the time, you are going to be putting concrete and or foundation structures in the ground. When you're doing that, you need stumps, root systems, and organic material removed from the soil so that you can reach the foundation soil that you need to pour concrete footers or a basement.

Benefits of Forestry Mulching

Forestry mulching allows you to clear spaces that might be environmentally sensitive–Whether it's because of the kind of soil that's there, or because there are restrictions on the land, or because it might be an erosion-prone area.

Leaving the root systems in the ground allows you not to have to do a lot of the erosion control work. We do that for you with the forestry mulching. At the same time, you can improve the visibility and function of the space without the same cost and expense of land clearing. Sparse mulching is typically more economical than conventional land clearing.
