We get a range of jobs for vegetation management and brush cutting. On one end of the spectrum, you have simple field reclamation – which is where you have a pasture or an area of land that has been not maintained for several years and the brush and immature trees and undergrowth has just gotten to such an extent that mowing is not sufficient to bring the land back to usable state. In those cases, we come in with a bit more capable equipment and reclaim that land, mow, and masticate the brush.
The other end of the spectrum would be property that has not been mowed before. You might want to make it more usable, create more space, or create more of an aesthetic appeal, for example. In these cases, we go in and have a consultation about what needs to stay, what needs to go, and what your expectations are for once we’re finished.
Mulching Services
We use sparse mulchers, which means we can grind objects 20 to 30 inches in diameter.
These mulchers are even capable of cutting things like grass pretty finely—all the way up to more mature trees—and processing them into mulch while clearing that space.
As far as living vegetation goes, we can grind any of it! However, you wouldn’t want to grind things like old fences or buildings because they contain metal, and metal can become a projectile hazard.
The only advice we’d offer if you’re clearing an area with plans to plant new forage or start a garden is this: Conventional clearing may be a better alternative for that purpose. Brush cutting leaves root systems in the ground, which is ideal for environmentally sensitive areas and serves as natural erosion control. But if you’re planning to work below the soil surface, you’ll want to remove the root systems entirely.
Seasonal Work
Brush cutting is an effective method of vegetation management year-round. You could argue that doing some brush cutting in the fall, winter, or early spring gives you a longer time window before the vegetation regrows.
Realistically, anytime is a good time to maintain your property. The more regularly you do it, the less cost and labor are associated with it.
Additionally, you will get a longer period between cutting and regrowth if you do it in the fall, winter, or early spring.
